Mother gets birth certificate for newborn

A Montreal mother who used an unregistered midwife to deliver her baby has had a difficult time getting the Quebec Government to issue a birth certificate for the child,. The matter seems to have been rectified after five months with word that the province will accept an ultrasound photo signed by her doctor as sufficient evidence of the birth. Heather Mattingsley said she received a phone call Friday on the mater. Previously, the province had told her she needed a physical exam or a DNA test to prove she was the mother of Sunshine Rose.
