Getting the best burn from your candles

Always trim wick to ¼ of an inch before burning as this prevents smoking. The first time that you burn the candle, allow it to burn until the melted wax (the melt pool) extends out to the walls of the container. This usually takes about one hour per inch diameter of container, i.e. 3 inches takes 3 hours. This will prevent “tunnelling”. Always remove any wick trimmings from the melted wax (if any occurs) after extinguishing to prevent flare ups. Keep candle out of drafts and on a level, heat resistant surface to prevent smoking and uneven burning. Do not display candles in direct sunlight because the colour will fade. Some Trouble Shooting Tips If the candle is smoking with a large flame, the wick is too long. Extinguish and trim to a ¼ inch A low small flame means the wick is drowning and probably because it is too short. Extinguish and pour out melted wax and relight. If tunnelling occurs (when the candle burns straight down the middle) It is usually because the candle didn’t burn long enough for the melt pool to reach the walls of the container on the first burn. Burn for a minimum of five hours
